Description

• Appearance: The fruits are round berries that mature from green to yellow, then dark red, and finally a deep glossy purple-black when fully ripe.
• Taste: The flesh is white, juicy, and firm. It has a sweet, refreshing flavor often described as a blend of sweet black cherries, grapes, and jaboticaba, with a pleasant, mild resinous or floral aftertaste.
• Harvesting: They must be picked completely ripe (dark purple); otherwise, they can be astringent.

• Growth Habit: It grows as an elegant evergreen shrub or small tree, reaching 3 to 6 metres in the ground. However, it adapts beautifully to containers and can be kept as a manageable 2-metre patio plant.
• Leaves and Bark: It features beautiful, glossy dark-green leaves. The new growth emerges in striking shades of reddish-brown or bronze. As the tree matures, its bark naturally peels, showing a smooth, multi-coloured trunk similar to a guava or eucalyptus tree.
