Lovi Lovi Sweet ( Grafted ) For Home Gardening
In Stock
Description
Sweet lovi-lovi (Flacourtia spp. or Flacourtia inermis), also known as Batoko plum or Indian cherry,
- Appearance: Small, round, cherry-like berries (1.5 to 3 cm) that transition from green when immature to bright red, dark red, or purple upon ripening.
- Flavor: While common Flacourtia inermis is very sour, acidic, and astringent when raw, rare sweet types (such as Flacourtia cataphracta or selected sweet accessions) offer a pleasant sweet-and-tart, jammy taste.
- Tree Features: Spreading evergreen trees (9 to 15 meters tall) featuring sharp spines all over the trunk, which can make cultivation and harvesting a bit challenging.
- Shelf Life: Ripe fruits are non-climacteric and have a very short post-harvest life, often softening or browning within hours or a couple of days unless refrigerated or specially packaged.
